I’m gettin’ the baseball itch again.
I’m glad to see the Twins added Orlando Hudson, if only for a year! And Jim Thome will be a great addition, too. Even if he’s a little old, he’s still a good baller–and will be a great leadership addition to the clubhouse. Speaking of cool old-timers, I’m gonna miss Mike Redmond (one of my favorites!), but I think he’d make a better coach somewhere, at this point. Besides, we’ve got some Mauer guy at catcher, and he seems pretty good (as far as catchers go). His some-times backup Jose Morales also left me 200% impressed last year. He’s just a young guy—but he’s hungry, and very mature and reliable at the plate. We gotta hang on to him.
But I haven’t heard yet if we’ll be demoting stupid, stupid Alexi Casilla to the minors. Do you know? I’m perfectly happy to see Harris or Punto covering other infield ground, but I want Alexi OUT. It’s not that he’s completely untalented (though he seems to be, at times). It’s just that he seems so lackadaisical and apathetic, just plain lazy at times. I’ve been to a couple games where he should’ve caught some easy flies to short right, and he did barely more than trot out just in time to see the ball land in front of him.
