My 2010 To-Do List: 50 Things I Want to Do in 2010

  1. Go to a Twins game at the new stadium. (done, 05/09/2010)
  2. Take a cooking class at Kitchen Window.
  3. Replace windows throughout my house. (done, 01/18/2010)
  4. Re-pierce nose. (done, 12/27/2009)
  5. Take bikram and/or hatha yoga classes.
  6. Read 50+ books.
  7. Write for at least 30 minutes each day.
  8. Daily meditations from Bodhipaksa. (done, daily)
  9. Play piano and sing for at least 2 hours each week.
  10. Choose the best Jucy Lucy (thanks Conner!)
  11. Do a Wisconsin cheese tour.
  12. Attend Grand Old Day.  (oops–didn’t even know it was happening until it was over!)
  13. Go horseback riding.
  14. Go to a St. Paul Saints game.
  15. Go to the MN State Fair.
  16. Go to the Mpls Farmer’s Market at least 3 times.
  17. Go to a comedy club.
  18. Have a casino night. (done, 07/23/2010)
  19. Have a picnic.
  20. Go canoeing.
  21. Go camping.
  22. Go to at least one city-wide garage sale; find something (anything!) that truly kicks ass.
  23. See Mike Doughty in concert.
  24. See a performance by the Minnesota Orchestra.
  25. Check out Punch Pizza. (done, 12/27/2009)
  26. Go to a “pick your own” garden (whether it’s pumpkins, apples, berries…whatever).
  27. Visit Lanesboro, Harmony, Caledonia, and Rushford.
  28. Turn my office into an honestly productive and inspiring workspace.
  29. Larger-than-life animal hunt and photo extravaganza (photos to be posted when this happens!).
  30. Attend at least one event from at least 5 town festivals.
  31. Go to the Mall of America (since I haven’t been there since, oh, say, 2000?)
  32. Create a detailed will.
  33. Get new domain; make kickass website.
  34. Go to Vegas.
  35. Go to Montana / Wyoming / Idaho / Oregon.
  36. Do at least 5 random drive-and-stop days.
  37. Spend a whole day doing nothing but cooking. (done, 01/09/10)
  38. Game night.
  39. Go to a movie. At a theater. Shouldn’t be that hard, but I’ve only been to one movie in the last 4-5 years.

My Bucket List: 50 Things I Want to Do in My Lifetime

  1. Earn Bachelor’s degree in English / Writing.
  2. Earn Master’s degree in English / Writing.
  3. Earn Ph.D. in English / Writing or History.
  4. Own my own home.
  5. Own 20-50 acres, with large gardens of colorful flowers and fresh vegetables, and pastures of ducks, dogs, chickens, miniature donkeys, and goats.
  6. Create and run a meaningful organization to benefit worthy causes.
  7. Become a really good cook.
  8. Be a vegetarian.
  9. Start my own bakery.
  10. Regularly write for magazines.
  11. Support myself as an author / writer. Stop having regular, corporate-type jobs.
  12. Learn to ice skate.
  13. Learn to paint.
  14. Learn to sculpt.
  15. Learn to draw.
  16. Become an expert at animal training.
  17. Rescue at least 200 dogs.
  18. Raise 2-3 children (adopted, fostered, or birthed).
  19. Share my life with someone kind, respectful, funny, interesting, and intelligent.
  20. Be a non-smoker.

  1. I have not been there, but this place in Bloomington offers two yoga classes (if you take them both within a week), plus a towel and mat for $20 if you’re a first timer!

    I’m willing to do quite a few of these, and I think you should take me (or us) up on it. Here’s a few that I really liked….#’s: 14, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 39. Let me know! :)
